Trollop

Sometimes you really have to worry about how Australia is run. Be it politics, sport, general councils, whatever; sometimes things just leave you scratching you head. Such as this whopper that I’ve just seen on the SMH website (indeed I was so compelled, incensed is probably a better word, to write this straight away).

David Koch, Australian Father of the year.

I want to leave it out there so it really stands out.

Please… I am sure he is an excellent father to his children, but really. There has to be more to this then meets the eye. What will we have next, Grant Denyer as National Indigenous Affairs Australian of the Year? Andrew Johns as Drug Awareness Advocate of the Year? Perhaps, like C7, this could be a case of a ‘bidding’ war to see who can get it.

Apparently Koch was awarded this for being an ‘average guy who is proud to be a father’. If that is the case, go down to a bloody childcare facility and award it to the first bloke you see picking up his child. They would be in the same boat. To call this ‘Australian Father of the year’ is rubbish.

Last years winner, Ron Delezio, was a perfect example of who should win this award. It should be awarded to a father who has gone above and beyond, done something special. To follow him up with this is terrible. Why not George Gregan, who's son is handicapped yet is obviously a huge part of his life. It should be more special then this.

Again, I am sure Koch is an excellent father, don't think this is against that, it just should be more.

Happy Feet

Yesterday I bit the bullet and went to Rebel to buy a new pair of Rugby Boots. I had looked all over Sydney for screw in studs and simple couldn’t find any, so I decided just to get some cheap moulded till I could find a new pair.

I was presented with the only ones that were in my size, and they were these:

I had to buy them for a laugh, but let me tell you, they’re so bad. Really really bad. They’re actually not bad to run in, but still, terrible.

I think I might call them Mellow Yellow… quite rightly…

The Tele

Look, I hate the Telegraph. I really do. The think about it though is that it just keeps on giving me reasons to hate it. Like this article here today. Poor old ND, being bashed like that. What trollop! It was thus good to see this reply from a James Dredge from Bathurst:

It is good to see that the facts do not get in the way of a ‘good story’ when you have a chip on your shoulder Maralyn. After reading your article in regards to the cost of Notre Dame I compared it to one of the best public Universities in Australia that you identified, Sydney. The most expensive degree quoted at Notre Dame is a Law Degree, and as a full fee course will be $8950 in 2008 (It would appear Notre Dame only has full fee courses, except for the CSS places you mentioned). A full fee law degree at USYD for 2008 is $20697. I assume that the figure you quoted in your article, the average fee, was a total of the entire degree at ND for something like law, so $44 750. What you fail to acknowledge is that as a full fee student at Sydney you would be left with a bill of $103 485. It would appear that the ‘Rich Private University’ would be more affordable then the Public University. Also, you mentioned the Nursing places at USYD and UTS. Sydney is closing its Nursing school at Mallet street (Undergrad has been gone for some time), and the majority of UTS’s places for Nursing are at its Ku-Ring-Gai Campus. You really have missed the ball with a lot of your facts, but the real shame is that it isn’t even a good story.

Good on you James. Excellent reply.

Enough of that, let's keep it Vanilla. Here is a photo that is a little more fruity though, thought it would be good fun to role with. I have been using Paint a lot more often lately for posters and the like; I like to find the most random shots I can find and put them up... hence this.

Vanilla

Welcome to a whole new world. I'm going to keep it Vanilla, yet still be a bit of a dill. That has to equal Vandilla! Ace
